Facebook Extends Connect Feature to iPhone, iPod Touch
Shortly after Facebook Connect officially launched, the feature also began to expand. The social networking site announced that this feature will also be available on Apple’s iPhone and iPod touch, allowing users to connect with their friends in their favorite applications from the App Store.

The system works in a manner similar to the web one, and it will allow users to use Facebook Connect on their iPhone just like on any other website. All they have to do is download applications with Facebook Connect features, log in, and start finding friends.

Facebook explained users will be able to see the same profile information as on the website, benefit from the same privacy settings, and share what they are doing with their iPhone applications with their Facebook friends.

The feature will be restricted to just a few applications to begin with, but Facebook said many more will come in the coming days. For starters, users can try out Agency Wars, Binary Game, iBowl, Live Poker, and Tap Tap Revenge 2.

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg first spoke of Facebook Connect last summer, during the annual f8 developer conference, when he gave developers the Facebook Platform and the tools to extend applications across the Web and build meaningful applications that will help users share information in ways Facebook alone couldn’t.

Facebook Connect offers several features, such as trusted authentication, allowing users to connect on partners sites with their Facebook account; real identity, which provides a trusted environment for users to leverage their real identity across the Web; friend linking, enabling trusted social context anywhere on the Web; dynamic privacy, giving users the same privacy settings on Facebook for all the sites they decide to login to; and social distribution, which enables users to share actions on partner sites with their friends on Facebook.
