Anthony "The Dog" Dirrell Arrested for Armed Robbery
The super middleweight boxer Anthony "The Dog" Dirrell was arrested on Monday under the charge of armed robbery, the police officials reported.

Dirrell was pulled over by the police because his car matched the description of the vehicle in which the robber of a bank in Flint, Michigan, flew from the spot earlier, the WNEM-TV, Saginaw, Michigan reported on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old boxer had not been charged, while a state prosecutor was reportedly still trying to decide whether to level charges.

"They just pulled the wrong fellow over and made a mistake. They thought they might have had the right guy, but they'll find out they didn't," Dirrell's grandfather Leon Lawson said.

Exactly three years after he made his pro debut, on January 27, 2005, Dirrell was on his way to get chemotherapy treatments when he was arrested, his father declared for the police.

Over the past ten months, the boxer has been battling non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and was not in shape to box for more than a year.

Anthony Dirrell is the youngest brother of Andre Dirrell, the boxer that won an Olympic bronze medal in 2004.
