Qantas Airplane Rupture In The Fuselage. The Investigation Continues
An exploding cylinder might have made a hole in the fuselage of a Qantas Airways plane while it was flying on Friday, therefore the crew had to make an emergency landing in the Philippines. No passenger was injured.

`”We've likely had a cylinder event,'' said today Neville Blyth, senior transport safety inspector at the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB). Investigators are focusing on the oxygen container to determine what really caused the rupture in the jumbo jet. However, they also analyze airplane records and question passengers.

Several passengers made complains, claiming that oxygen masks weren't working appropriately throughout the incident and Blyth affirmed today that this aspect will be taken into account as “part of the investigation.''

As The Australian Associated Press reported, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority said passengers should keep on have confidence in the national airline of Australia.

When the mid-air blast took place, the Boeing Co. 747-400 was heading from London to Melbourne, cruising at 29,000 feet (8,800 meters) with 346 passengers on board. After it had just made a stopover in Hong Kong, the airplane lost both cabin pressure and altitude so the pilots made an emergency descent to 10,000 feet (3,048 meters). Then they diverted the aircraft to Manila International Airport, where it landed safely.

According to Blyth, the recorder used a permanent loop and could only record the preceding two hours of conversation in the cockpit.

Yesterday, the airline encountered another problem when a landing gear door didn’t close, making a plane bound for Melbourne to change directions and return to Adelaide, the AAP informed.
