English football giants
Chelsea confirmed on Tuesday that they have rejected an approach from
Italian champions Inter Milan for Frank Lampard.
The England midfielder is a key target for his former manager Jose Mourinho, who took charge at Inter earlier in the summer.
But the west London club have insisted they are unwilling to sell,
even though Lampard has only a year remaining on his contract.
'Chelsea Football Club can confirm it has received an official
approach from Internazionale to discuss the possible transfer of Frank
Lampard,' read a statement on the club website.
'Contrary to reports no financial offer was made.
'Chelsea FC has informed Inter this morning that we will not enter
into any discussions regarding the transfer of Frank Lampard.'
AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani, meanwhile, said his club
had been contacted by Chelsea over the availability of Brazilian
forward Kaka.
'I can confirm that Chelsea declared their interest in Kaka,' Galliani told Sky Sport Italia.
'But I told them that Milan were not interested in selling him and I
stopped everything before they could make any offer. So, I don't know
whether they would have offered 80 million pounds (160 million
dollars).'
