Nikolay Davydenko did not need more than 82 minutes in order to defeat Rafael Nadal 6-4 6-2 in the final of the Sony Ericsson Open tennis tournament that took place in Miami. The two players made a trade of service breaks early in the opening set, but the fourth- seeded Davydenko staved off two other break-point chances for Nadal. Davydenko captured the first set just when Nadal sent a backhander wide, while in the second set, he managed to have a 4-1 advantage over the second- seeded Nadal, on his way to recording his first victory out of three tries against the Spanish player. "My tennis was so good today," he admitted. "I think it's the best tennis of the hard-court season. Just to beat (Andy Roddick and Nadal) in two sets is like amazing for me." The victory in the finals earned him 590.000 dollars, while Nadal got 295.000 dollars for his second position. This is the second time Nadal was a runner –up this season, since he also lost in the final of the Chennai Open that took place in India just before the Australian open.
