R&B singer Chris Brown has been charged with two felonies counts of assault and making a criminal threat following the "brutal argument" he had with girlfriend Rihanna on February 8, which left the singer with shocking facial injuries. Just hours after Brown was formally charged, one of the Barbados-born pop star's relatives told People, "It's about time." "He should be in jail," Rihanna's relative says of Brown, 19, who faces up to four years and eight months in state prison. "He deserves whatever he gets." Chris Brown showed up for his arraignment on Thursday amid a media circus. To everyone’s chagrin, it was over quicker than it had begun as his lawyers promptly postponed the hearing until April 6. During the short session at the L.A. Superior Court, Brown did not enter a plea to the two felony charges against him. He instead signed a waiver that showed he understood that his attorney, Mark Geragos, would be appearing for him when the arraignment continues in four weeks. The judge issued an order barring Brown from "harassing, threatening or using force" against anyone. However, Brown was not ordered to refrain from contact with Rihanna, with whom he reportedly has reconciled over the weekend at P. Diddy's Miami Beach house. After the arraignment, Rihanna's lawyer Donald Etra said that his client "wanted to convey her appreciation to the friends, followers and family" that have supported her. When asked about the couple's reconciliation, Etra said that "this is not the time to discuss that."
